The royal Atmosphere of the Great Orangery at Charlottenburg Palace is the perfect setting for the selected program of the Berlin Residence Orchestra and its soloists, who are dressed in authentic costumes.
The orchestra was specifically created for the Berlin Palace Concert series. Enjoy its presentation of works of the baroque and classical eras written by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Frederick The Great and his court composers as well as Antonio Vivaldi, among others.
The Orchestra
The Berlin Palace Orchestra has been formed exclusively for the concert series at Charlottenburg Palace. All members of the ensemble are highly professional and respected musicians from Berlin showing a deep understanding of late Baroque music and music of the classical period as well as a true passion for its interpretation. Endowed with a truly special feeling for music as well a high level of musical homogeneity, the orchestra presents the most outstanding works of this remarkable era to today’s audience.
An Experience of Baroque
Charlottenburg Palace, the sumptuous Baroque summer residence of Prussian kings, has revolved around artistic creativity and artistic delight since its early days. This new concert series taking place at the Grand Orangery at Charlottenburg Palace gives locals and tourists the opportunity of experiencing the era of Baroque in Berlin. In a truly exquisite ambience of candlelight, the Berlin Palace Orchestra presents masterpieces of music, taking the audience on a journey to the golden era of Baroque and classical music. Enjoy this musical journey back in time at one of the most historic and exclusive venues in Berlin. All members of the orchestra as well as staff members are dressed in historic costumes, creating a unique combination of the magic of times past and the amenities of modern-day life.

Visit of Charlottenburg Palace
Charlottenburg Palace is today´s largest residence of the royal house of Hohenzollern in Germany´s capital, Berlin. The magnificent building is surrounded by unique baroque gardens featuring various architectural styles. The Palace includes splendidly furnished chambers and ballrooms with exclusive art collections.
Individual guests will visit the Old Palace or the New Wing with explanations given by an audio guide (available in German, English, French, and Italian). We recommend that you start your palace tour between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m (5:00 p.m during summer season). Please keep in mind that the palace closes at 5:00p.m(6:00 p.m during summer season).
Feel free to visit the palace anytime during the day. Please note that the Old Palace is closed on Mondays, the New Wing is closed on Tuesdays.
River Cruise
Enjoy a three-hour river cruise under the bridges of historic Berlin. Your tour will take you to discover the following sites: Palace Bridge (Schlossbrücke) –Charlottenburg Riverbank (Charlottenburger Ufer) –”Hansa” District (Hansaviertel) –Ministry of the Interior –Government District (Spreebogen) –Bellevue Palace (the German President´s official residence).
Individual visitors are requested to pick up their concert tickets and the voucher for the river cruise at our office located at the Small Orangery at Charlottenburg Palace. If you choose to pick up your tickets the very day of the river cruise, please make sure to do so before 1:30p.m. because the boat departs at Palace Bridge (Schlossbrücke) at 2:15p.m. Our office hours are 9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m., Monday to Saturday, closed on Sundays.
Dinner
Culture and culinary delicacies are an irresistible combination at the Great Orangery of Charlottenburg Palace. One of the highlights of this festive evening is our exclusive three-course Orangery Menu, served by the light of hundreds of candles in the historic rooms of the Great Orangery
Concerts in Advent
In order to get you into the mood for the silent time of the year, the ensemble of the Berlin Residence Orchestra will perform already in the afternoon. Enjoy classical music at theGreat Orangery of Charlottenburg Palace at 3:00 p.m.
Christmas, New Year´s Eve and New Year´s Day Concerts
The Berlin Residence Concerts provide the ideal setting for the festive hours of the year. Enjoy selected masterpieces from baroque and classical music and get into the mood for Christmas Eve by attending our Christmas Concert at 4:00 p.m. On December 25th, 26th and 28th, we offer to serve you an exquisite festive menu in the West Wing of the Orangery, splendidly lighted, before the concerts.OurNew Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day concerts, taking place from December 30th to January 1st, will offer you aspecial treat at its best. The excellent ensemble of the Berlin Residence Orchestra and its solo singers will play the most famous pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and by members of the Strauß dynasty. On the occasion of our New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day concerts, the orchestra will be dressed in baroque costumes in the first part and after the interval, in festive evening attire. On December 31st, the Berlin Residence Orchestra will be waiting for you with the same programme for an additional afternoon concert at 3:00 p.m.
